Chapter Director, Julie Jury
Julie is a Colorado native and life-long animal lover. Since her brothers joined the Navy when she was in her teens, her heart has also been with our Veterans. Having been involved with dog and other pet rescue for nearly 10 years, when she heard of Pets for Vets, Julie immediately sought out the Chapter in Colorado. Learning that there wasn't one in Colorado, she began working to get one started and established a strong, diverse core group of volunteers and Board of Directors.
Julie is the Founder and Executive Director of Hope for Paws Colorado, a non-profit organization which transports rescue pets from high-kill and rural shelters and rescue groups in the Mid-West and Southern US states to Rocky Mountain Region Rescues and adoptive families so they can get their second chances and much-deserved new lives. Julie also is a Vice-President with My Fairy Dawg Mother Rescue in the Denver metro area. Prior to forming Hope for Paws Colorado, Julie volunteered with and served on the Board for a Denver area Labrador Retriever Rescue.
Married to Richard for 10 years, Julie enjoys camping, hiking and many Colorado adventures with Richard, their 3 children and 3 dogs, 2 Labs and a Rottweiler. They live in the Parker, CO area.
Julie is surrounded by a team of experienced and professional, passionate and dedicated Veteran supporters and animal lovers. They are all extremely grateful for the opportunity to help Veterans and rescue pets in the Denver area and looking forward to changing lives.
"He’s more than just a friend. He’s my battle buddy. He’s my left hand. We’re connected by a leash, but it’s really our umbilical cord. He’s sometimes more tuned into me than I’m tuned into me. He knows more about me than I do sometimes. He lets me know what’s going on."
– Adam
"You would think that a dog is just a dog. That may be true for some, but not me.
I used to sit at home, alone, and just let life pass me by, but now I have a reason to get up. Even if it’s feeding Samson, or taking him for walks, he has motivated me to live again."
– Luke
