Veterans Day Parade
Pets for Vets Southwest Indiana participated in the Veterans Day Parade in Evansville, IN. More than 170 units were also there to celebrate and honor Veterans, and the Newburgh Heritage Girls Troop joined Pets for Vets Southwest Indiana on the float to throw candy and show their support.
Thank you, Evansville, and all the organizations that were there for our Veterans!
Memorial Day Festival
Evansville’s first annual Memorial Day Festival was held May 30 at Garvin Park. The event included a 5K Run/Walk, performances by local bands, a bounce house and games for kids, and food vendors. Many different Veterans organizations (including Pets for Vets Southwest Indiana) participated, and lots of people stopped by our table for information.
Indiana's Run for the Fallen On May 13–15, 2016, Veterans ran from Fort Wayne to Indianapolis and saluted 144 fallen brothers and sisters at Indiana's Run for the Fallen. Veteran Eric and his Pets for Vets dog, Sloopy, ran for the second year. (Sloopy was the first ever dog selected to run with the Veterans!)
Pets for Vets Southwest Indiana is proud of Indiana's Veterans and especially proud of Eric and Sloopy for taking on this challenge and honor.

Four Freedoms Veterans Parade
Spoiled Rotten Pet Grooming Promotion For the culmination of a six-week promotion at Spoiled Rotten Pet Grooming in Evansville, IN, Pets for Vets Southwest Indiana manned a table inside the grooming shop. The shop made a monetary donation, and Blue Buffalo donated dog food and funds to our organization.
Thank you, Spoiled Rotten Pet Grooming, for all the exposure and funding you gave us. We certainly appreciate it!
Chick-fil-A Cross Pointe Promotion
On November 10, 2015, Chick-fil-A Cross Pointe in Evansville, IN, donated a percentage of the evening’s proceeds to Pets for Vets Southwest Indiana for every customer who supported our organization. We also distributed Pets for Vets brochures to customers during the promotion.
We appreciate your generosity, Chick-fil-A Cross Pointe!
Veteran-Pet Memorial Day Picnic
Pets for Vets Southwest Indiana hosted a Memorial Day picnic for our Veteran-pet matches. The forecast called for rain that day, but the skies cleared just as our group gathered. We had plenty of food to share and enjoyed the time to visit with our friends. And of course, there was some silliness, as you can see in the photo!
American Legion Kapperman Post 44 Plaque Presentation
The American Legion Kapperman Post 44 in Newburgh, IN, has been a huge supporter since we started our chapter in March 2014. They have not only made donations toward specific Pets for Vets Southwest Indiana needs but also have an ongoing aluminum can collection in their parking lot to benefit our organization (and they are huge contributors to it as well!).
On January 14, we recognized their support by presenting them with a plaque. A sincere thank you to the men of Post 44 and their Ladies Auxiliary for their support and generosity.
Daughters of the American Revolution Fundraiser at Sam’s Club
Members of Pets for Vets Southwest Indiana joined the Daughters of the American Revolution for a fundraiser at Sam's Club last November. On January 8, the ladies honored our organization and presented us with a check from the fundraiser at a luncheon at the Evansville Kennel Club. This donation will help cover expenses for Sugar, our next dog to be matched with her Veteran.
Thank you to the Daughters of the American Revolution!

Four Freedoms Veterans’ Parade in Evansville
Even though Saturday, November 8 was a chilly, windy day in Evansville, IN, the Four Freedoms Veterans’ Parade marched on! There were about 75 entries including Pets for Vets Southwest Indiana.
Volunteers and Veterans who received dogs from our organization rode or walked by our red, white and blue decorated trailer and handed out brochures along the parade route. There was a lot of interest in our program.
