A Pets For Vets Match Story

Eric and Sloopy

Pets for Vets,

My name is Eric Evitts. I would like to just take a moment to thank each and every single member that is part of Pets for Vets.

I would like each of you to know how thankful I am for all you have done, not just for me but all vets across the country. Recently, Pets for Vets gave me a beautiful dog named Sloopy. Sloopy is part lab and part whippet.

Before Sloopy was given to me, I was frequently visiting the VA clinic receiving treatment for PTSD, which included nightmares, anxiety, mood swings, anything you can think of. Some time later I talked to a friend who told me that he had received a dog for his injuries due to war and it did wonders that he couldn't explain. I then began to look into Pets for Vets.

Two wonderful ladies in the Southwest Indiana Chapter trained a wonderful dog for me. Sloopy has made me feel absolutely 100% better in every aspect of my life. She is my best friend and even though we haven't lived together for long, I honestly couldn't think of what I would do without her.

Sloopy is always right there for me, she watches TV with me, runs with me in the park and even sleeps right by in my bed. There is never a time (other than when I'm at work) that we are apart.

There aren't enough hugs and thank yous in this world to show how grateful I am towards Pets for Vets. It is an absolutely amazing organization and I highly recommend them for any veterans, especially veterans who have tried the traditional methods with limited success. It may sound silly, but it is very true and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Pets for Vets. Your hard work and dedication to this organization doesn't go unrecognized.

Sincerely,
Eric
