A Pets For Vets Match Story

Charlie and Aliana

Charlton Johnson is a former Marine who suffers from severe PTSD and depression. After contacting Pets for Vets, Charlton met with Didi Tulloch and Mary Jo Duffy to discuss his needs, lifestyle and expectations so that they could find him the perfect match.

"Right from the beginning I felt as if they both knew me already,” Charlie says. “They asked all the right questions, as if they had been doing this for years. So much that I was comfortable talking to them about some of my deepest secrets. Things my family doesn't even know. After a while Mary Jo made a suggestion of a dog then made sure this dog would be a good choice for me. It has been a Blessing ever since.”

Soon, he was matched with his dog Aliana who, according to Charlie, has changed his life for the best. “Aliana gives me purpose now and has become a big part of my new life,” he says. “Mary Jo and Didi deserve all the credit. Without these two ladies I would still be lost. They are the best at what they do and a Godsend in my opinion. They have made sure that Aliana and I want for nothing. They have made this transition very easy and helpful and they are only a text or phone call away."
