A Pets For Vets Match Story

Doraliza and Lupita

Sergeant Doraliza has served 12 years in the United States Army including serving in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. As a nurse she spent her career taking care of and putting others before herself. After returning from service Doraliza was diagnosed with TBI and PTSD and has become very isolated. Pets for Vets is honored to be able to help her by finding her a companion dog that will help her overcome some of her own service related issues.

Lupita has suffered a lot during her three short years. She was abandoned at the Baldwin Park shelter and spent over a month waiting for a home. She was severely emaciated, scared and suffered from illnesses typical from a shelter environment. Pets for Vets knew she would make the perfect companion for Doraliza. When they met for the first time, it was love at first sight. Doraliza looks forward to taking Lupita for walks and meeting people again.

Together they will help each other heal.
