Tim and Cathy

Tim grew up in Southern California, graduated college and went to work for IBM. During the Vietnam War he enlisted in the Army and was sent to Berlin, Germany as a computer programmer. After his military service, he continued working at IBM, San Jose, California Labs in applied physics until 1986 when he transferred with IBM to technical marketing at DuPont in Wilmington. He retired in 1992 and then worked with his wife validating medical software at Johnson and Johnson. He has volunteered at various facilities included the Tri-State Bird Sanctuary, Fort Delaware on Pea Patch Island and a national motorcycle racing organization.

His wife, Cathy, is on the board of Pets for Vets, Inc. and this piqued his interest in the bond between the returning Veterans and pets. Hearing the many wonderful stories about the Veterans and the pets that Pets For Vets® has matched has inspired him talk with a group of friends and neighbors to build the foundation of the Northern Delaware Chapter.

Chapter personnel includes Dianne Confalone, Assistant Chapter Director, Sandy Holsten, Treasurer, and Carol Crowder.

The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall "The Wall That Heals"

Northern DE Pets for Vets Chapter Director Tim Lile volunteered to assist with the set up and take down of the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall during its recent display in New Castle, DE. It is an exact 3/5 scale replica of the original memorial in Washington, DC. All 58,311 names of the fallen Veterans are engraved on the panels. To enable easier set up and transportation, the engraved panels are of a lighter material. The tradition of making a rubbing of a loved one’s name is encouraged. Local volunteers assist with the setup and take down of the frames and panels of the Wall.
